Meet Jamario "Tyrone" Johnson, a law enforcement pro with over 20 years of service under his belt. He kicked off his career in the jail (2005-2009), then took to the streets as a patrol deputy (2009-2017), worked his way up to patrol corporal (2017-2022), and is now a Juvenile Sergeant, shaping young minds and keeping our community safe.
Growing up in a family with law enforcement roots; his father, Lt. Willie B. Johnson, served over 30 years with the police department, Tyrone was destined for this life. When he’s not patrolling the streets, you’ll likely find him living his need for speed with his love for cars and drag racing. Tyrone's dedication hasn’t gone unnoticed. He’s been honored as Officer of the Quarter in the jail and Officer of the Year in patrol. But it's not all work for him, he’s also been a passionate volunteer with Operation Arresting Hunger for years, giving back to the community he’s served so well. A man who truly knows the meaning of service, both on and off the clock! (You never see Tyrone without a smile on his face. He truly lights up the room. ) Kelsey is originally from Annapolis Maryland but has lived in Georgia for about 14 years. She is the middle child as well as the family chaos coordinator.
Kelsey currently serves as the funds account tech for the Houston County Detention Center and has been working for the sheriff’s office 2023. She began her career as a booking clerk which is where she met her husband who was a patrol deputy at the time. Kelsey is a young mother who loves spending time with her daughter and family. She enjoys going on family adventures and trying new things. She is a social butterfly and outspoken advocate for families in need. Kelsey prides herself in having strong Christian values and strives to show God’s love to everyone she encounters. She is the newest member of the OAH family but is eager to help out in any way she can! Kevin Taylor launched Operation Arresting Hunger in 2012 with a big heart and a clear mission: to make sure no family goes without during the holidays. What started as a simple idea to give back has grown into a powerful community effort that helps hundreds of families each year.
Born in Gelnhausen, Germany 🇩🇪, Kevin is the proud son of Daniella and Rickey Taylor. He has served with the Houston County Sheriff's Office for 15 years, starting as a Detention Deputy. Over the years, he has worked as a Transport Deputy, Patrol Deputy, Extradition Corporal, High Risk Warrants Corporal, and now serves as a Sergeant in the Juvenile Investigations Division. He was also a member of the Sheriff’s Response Team for six years. When he’s not working or coordinating community outreach, Kevin enjoys spending time with his girlfriend and her beautiful family. He’s also completely wrapped around the paw of his dog, Ginger, who is very much aware that she’s the boss. Kevin leads with compassion and heart, and through Operation Arresting Hunger, he continues to inspire others to step up, serve, and spread kindness throughout Houston County. Kelli Leary: Professional Database Whisperer, Community Cheerleader, Christmas Elf Extraordinaire & Treasurer for Operation: Arresting Hunger
Born in sunny Pensacola, Florida, but raised on sweet tea and Southern charm in Georgia, Kelli Leary is the powerhouse behind the names, numbers, streets, and maps at Houston County 911—also known as “the woman who keeps the chaos organized, one database at a time.” By day, she wrangles data with the precision of a tech-savvy cowgirl. By night (and many weekends), Kelli serves as the Treasurer for Operation: Arresting Hunger, a local nonprofit dedicated to feeding families and spreading joy throughout the community. For the past eight years, she’s been a driving force behind the organization’s success—coordinating donations, planning events, and helping ensure every child experiences the magic of the holidays. “It’s like being Santa,” she says, “if Santa had a spreadsheet and a barcode scanner.” Kelli’s also proud to be a wife of 24 years to her high school sweetheart—though their love story spans 34 years of laughter, teamwork, and the occasional eye roll. Together, they’ve raised two amazing (and fully adulting!) kids. She considers surviving parenthood a badge of honor—complete with minor emotional scarring and a strong sense of humor. Whether she’s feeding the community, managing records, brightening Christmas mornings, or just labeling everything in sight, Kelli brings passion, personality, and a touch of sass to everything she does. Her life motto? “If you can’t fix it with laughter or a label maker, it’s not worth fixing.” Veronica proudly serves as the President of the Operation Arresting Hunger Committee, where she leads with heart, hustle, and a deep love for her community. By day, she is a 911 Lieutenant keeping things under control. By night (and most weekends), she is organizing fundraisers, rallying volunteers, and making sure families in Houston County have the support they need.
Veronica began volunteering with OAH 8 years ago, but her support started at the very beginning when Kevin Taylor created the organization. For her, it is deeply personal. She grew up with very little, and she knows firsthand what it feels like to go without. That is why she is so passionate about making sure no family goes hungry on Thanksgiving and no child wakes up on Christmas wondering if there will be gifts under the tree. In her words, “Children should never have to worry about where food or Christmas is coming from.” She is also a proud boy mom to three amazing sons – Austin, Jacob, and Jaxon – and is about to take on a new role she is beyond excited for: Grandma to baby Liam, arriving soon! 💙 Whether she is loading food boxes, wrapping gifts, or dancing at a car wash to DJ Mixmaster T’s beats, Veronica brings energy, compassion, and purpose to everything she does. “I am happy to help my community and so proud to work alongside these amazing people who work so hard for Houston County.” 🚧 Pardon Our Progress – We’re Under Construction! 🚧
Well, folks… we finally did it. After years of sticky notes, group texts, and “we really need a website” conversations over cold coffee and folding tables… the moment has arrived. OPERATION ARRESTING HUNGER HAS A WEBSITE. 😎🎉 …Kind of. Okay, okay—it’s under construction. Like, still-wearing-a-hard-hat kind of construction. Right now, it’s a lot of “Coming Soon” signs, blank pages, and one lonely link that may or may not go anywhere. But hey, Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither was an awesome OAH online store! What you can expect when we’re done:
Stay tuned. Stay hungry (for change). And stay amazing. 💙 |
AuthorThe OAH Team is fueled by coffee, community service, and a deep belief that nobody should go hungry. When they are not coordinating OAH projects, they are probably organizing something, encouraging someone, or convincing volunteers that yes, they do have time to help! Archives
